Often considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the U.S., the two-tiered Multnomah Falls is the crown jewel of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. We absolutely love exploring this waterfall and it is one of our favorite day trip destinations in Oregon.
The waterfall measures 620 feet in height and is just 30 miles from downtown Portland.
There are several ways to get the most out of your visit to Multnomah Falls. From wheelchair-accessible viewing platforms to challenging hiking trails leading to the top of the falls, this attraction offers a little something for everyone.
And no matter where you stand, the views are incredible.
Although, in our experience, one of our favorite views is right from the bridge. You can see the viewing platforms down below on one side and the waterfall on the other.
This waterfall is also a paradise for photographers and nature enthusiasts. During the spring and summer, the waterfall is notoriously powerful, and capturing it on camera is on many travelers' bucket lists. This is one of the best times of year to visit Multnomah Falls but you will have some crowds to fight.
