Foundry Dock Park used to be the loading dock for the West Point Foundry, which was a seminal 19th-century ironworks that is located close to what is currently the West Point Foundry Preserve.

Kayak and canoe rentals are both available through the company Hudson River Expeditions.

Foundry Dock park—as well as the nearby Chapel of Our Lady, which was originally built for foundry workers and their families—is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The park is free and open year-round from sunrise to sunset.

The 600-foot dock of Foundry Dock Park used to be the destination for steamboats to transport metal and weapons. During the Civil War, it was a hub of activity. It’s quieter now, but that history remains.
