The Incredible Flower Road Trip Through New York Is The Ultimate Spring Adventure

Nothing says to the world that "spring has sprung" quite like a beautiful flower in bloom. And there's plenty of amazing ways to view, pick and enjoy flowers in New York. With that in mind, we made a list of five of our favorite destinations for a spring flower road trip in New York State. Check it out, below.

1. Waterdrinker Family Farm & Garden: Manorville

More than just a farm and garden, tourists who make the stop at the Waterdrinker Family Farm & Garden have the ability to play miniature golf and lawn games, check out some barnyard animals, or even take part in an obstacle course. Don’t miss their Tulip Festival, which takes place between April 12th and May 10th this year.

2. Hudson Wildflower Co: Milton

This year, Hudson Wildflower Co. has for sale a $150 flower picking subscription, which offers one self-picked new bucket at the start of the season with an additional four refills. For those just passing through, the retail price per bucket is $45. No matter how you slice it, it’s a great deal—there are over a dozen flowers to choose from.

3. Kelder’s Farm: Kerhonkson

Kelder’s Farm doesn’t just provide great flowers, but also a petting zoo, a playground, and a mini golf course. There’s even a variety of food and drinks—visitors over 21 can check out Kelder’s in-house bar The Loading Dock, which has for sale a variety of wine, beer, and hard cider, all made in New York State.

4. East Durham Farms: East Durham

The next stop on this magical flower journey is East Durham Farms, a family-friendly farm environment that is full of vegetable gardens, blueberry bushes, and plenty of beautiful fresh-cut flowers. It’s a delightful small town farm experience.

5. North Star Orchards: Westmoreland

We can’t think of a better place to end your trip than North Star Orchard. The family-run farm market and bakery provides great pick your own options, a greenhouse, and amazing gift baskets. Be sure not to leave without purchasing a few items from their delicious on-site bakery.

We think that to really, truly, take advantage of everything that New York State has to offer in the spring, it's worth getting on the road and smelling the flowers. And for those looking for road trip packing ideas, we made a helpful guide to that, too. Have fun out there!
