Harrisville Is A Small Town In New Hampshire That Offers Plenty Of Peace And Quiet

Harrisville is a charming and historic New England town perfect for a peaceful getaway.

There’s nothing quite like a stunningly beautiful teeny tiny town here in the Granite State, is there? So much charm and history can be found in our New England villages. If you’ve been looking for a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life without leaving the state, you’ve got to head to Harrisville. Let’s go see what this peaceful little town is all about:

Harrisville’s story begins before it was called Harrisville. In 1774, a combination sawmill and gristmill was built on the land and the town of Harrisville grew up around it.

The town itself was formed in 1870. It is pictured here as it was in 1905.

The town seems virtually unchanged in some places.

You’re going to find that Harrisville pretty much looks like a postcard of an ideal New England town.

That’s because the Harrisville Historic District is sometimes photographed as an example of a quintessential New England village.

There’s no wrong season to seek peace and quiet in old Harrisville. The historic red brick homes are gorgeous in the spring.

But the sight when snow is on the ground is even more impressive:

From stunning, historic churches . . .

. . . to the beauty of the nine bodies of water in and around town . . .

. . . Harrisville is one incredible place to stroll along, away from busy schedules and busy streets.

So the next time you need a dose of nostalgia and peace, head straight to the town of Harrisville.

Population: 953. Charm: Immeasurable.
