Autumn just might be our favorite season of the year! Sure, we might say that about every season. And, who could blame us in a place like New Hampshire? But, truly, things here are special when the leaves begin to change. And seeing fall foliage surrounding us makes every outing just a little more festive. This year, plan in advance to explore some of the best fall destinations in the state.

1. Mount Kearsarge, Wilmot

A hike here will make your fall-loving soul very happy. The absolutely incredible views of the fall foliage will impress you, but perhaps more wow-factor will come from knowing that the trail is just 1.1-miles. The family will love it!

2. Blair Covered Bridge, Campton

One of the many beautiful covered bridges in the state, the Blair Bridge offers a lovely walk across the Pemigewasset River. This time of year it's covered in fall foliage at both ends making it great for photos as well. You can learn more by clicking here.

3. The Connecticut River Byway

A destination is lovely, but we agree that the journey can be even better. That's why we love taking a drive on this beautiful byway. The western border of New Hampshire features rolling mountain views as well as views of eastern Vermont. And the foliage around the Connecticut River makes it even better.

4. Mt. Monadnock, Jaffrey and Dublin

You can do it all on this wonderful piece of terrain. Hike the mountain for a challenge and then camp overnight amidst the fall foliage.

5. Emery Farm, Durham

There's nothing better than a visit to a local farm during the fall and this is a great option. From pumpkins to apples to the season's beloved apple cider donuts, this might be the most festive you can feel!

6. Sculptured Rocks Natural Area, Hebron

Referred to as the "Grand Canyon" of New Hampshire, this natural area is 227-acres of woods and impressively carved rocks that were formed just before the last ice age ended. 7. Greenfield State Park, Greenfield

All of New Hampshire's state parks are beautiful this time of year, but we especially love this one. Choose to spend the day enjoying the water (it stays warm here well into the fall!) or enjoy a camping trip with friends and family. Either way, you'll be surrounded by gorgeous foliage.

8. Walter's Basin Restaurant and Basshole Lounge, Holderness
