During the summertime, it’s a sunny paradise. But winter in Bigfork, Montana is when this gorgeous area really comes alive. In fact, Bigfork is known as Montana’s Christmas Village. Bigfork’s average annual snowfall is well above the national average at 53.8 inches per year. You can pretty much count on having a white Christmas here.

The downtown holiday decorating is a tradition that started over 30 years ago. It’s done with military precision by 200 local volunteers. The results speak for themselves.

Base Camp Bigfork offers an array of winter activities that will make you fall in love with the season. You can go cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skijoring, and even dog sledding.

The town looks like something out of a storybook. Bigfork has caught the attention of a lot of travel publications and has been named one of the 50 Great Towns of the West.

You’ll have your choice of holiday activities leading up to Christmas. You can meet Santa, participate in a parade, enjoy the Festival of Trees, or attend one of the many upcoming events taking place this holiday season.

Of course, you can always sit inside the Echo Lake Cafe and sip hot chocolate while the snow falls.
