3 Scenic Hiking Trails Surround The Small Town Of Polson, Montana

Polson, Montana, is a small town of around 5,000 people located in the northwest corner of the state. Situated on the shore of Flathead Lake, this small town has some great hikes with scenic and incredible views. Radio Tower Road, Polson Hill Trail, and Hellroaring Road are some of our favorites.

1. Radio Tower Road

Radio Tower Road is a long and moderate hike clocking in at 8 miles. The road is well maintained and will bring you through the woods, and when the wildflowers bloom, this trail is one of the best places to walk among them. This hike will lead you to views of the surrounding mountains as well as Flathead Lake, and watching the clouds roll in from the top is simply mesmerizing.

2. Polson Hill Trail

Polson Hill Trail is a shorter hike, clocking in at just under 2.5 miles. This is a great hike to get out and stretch your legs midday, and it gives you great views of the town of Polson, the lake, and the snow-capped mountains behind them.

3. Hellroaring Road to Hellroaring Reservoir

Hellroaring Road to Hellroaring Reservoir is another shorter hike and is just about three miles long. This trail will bring you to the beautiful Hellroaring Reservoir. This trail requires a Tribal Conservation Permit, so make sure to pick one up before your hike (they're available from local Reservation Permit vendors as well as at Walmart).

These three hikes will give you a great taste of hiking around the small town of Polson, Montana.
