A Winter Getaway To One Of Missouri’s Snowiest Towns Is Nothing Short Of Magical
Wintertime may be breathtakingly beautiful. However, after the business of the holidays dies down, life tends to get a lot quieter, and, for many, the winter blues set in. That makes winter an ideal time to go on a getaway, and you won’t find a better – or more fun – place than one of Missouri’s snowiest towns. Here's more on why you'll want to plan a winter getaway in Missouri to Fulton, one of the state's most charming small towns.
Snowy winter days aren’t really the norm in some areas of Missouri, but Fulton receives some of the most snowfall in the state each winter. In 2022, it secured the second spot in Missouri with 19.4 inches of snow.
With 19.6 inches of snow, Savannah just inched out Fulton for the town with the most snowfall in Missouri in 2022.
With a population of just over 12,700, Fulton sits just half an hour from Columbia and 25 minutes from Jefferson City, making it easily accessible for a weekend (or longer) getaway.
If you’re a fan of the outdoors, bundle up and check out some of Fulton’s outdoor attractions. Slip on your hiking or snow boots for a leisurely wander along the Stinson Creek Trail in Morningside Park.
Little Dixie Lake Conservation Area offers an idyllic setting for hiking and bird-watching. For some indoor fun, on the other hand, make your way to Fulton Bowling Center.
The Historic Brick District, Fulton’s downtown, also offers plenty to do on a snowy winter day. Meander in and out of the collection of charming shops, and grab a bite to eat at the old-fashioned soda fountain.
In addition to being the home of Westminster College and William Woods University, Fulton boasts quite a few museums that will bring out the history buff in you.
Carve out time to visit such museums as America’s National Churchill Museum, Auto World Museum, and Kingdom of Callaway Historic Museum. Stop by the Berlin Wall Memorial, too.
Finding a place to stay is easy in Fulton, which has several motels and hotels, including the absolutely enchanting Loganberry Inn. Reserve a cozy room, where you can relax and recharge before another day of exploration.
