Sometimes a weekend getaway – or longer – just isn’t possible. That’s when we start planning day trips to add an extra bit of excitement and exploration to our calendars. We love this list of things to do in Jamesport Missouri. Next time you’re craving a slower pace of life, one that hearkens back to yesteryear, make your way to Jamesport. The charming Amish town is perfect for a day trip in Missouri.

Travel back through the pages of time when you visit Jamesport, a tiny Amish town that’s home to less than 500 residents. Jamesport Mississippi holds the distinction as the oldest Old World Amish Settlement to the west of the Mississippi River.

One of the best ways to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the Amish is through a private, guided tour with the Jamesport Chamber of Commerce. Tours are offered daily, and reservations are recommended.

A private tour guide will take you around town, where you’ll learn more about Amish life and customs. You’ll also pass an Amish cemetery, farms, a sawmill, and a school. To reserve a private tour, call 660-684-6711. This is one of our favorite things to do in Jamesport MO.

Carve out some time to visit some of the Amish shops, too, where you’ll find a little bit of everything – from collectibles to furniture.
