Nestled in the heart of Kansas City is a magnificent shopping village that will transport you straight to a vibrant town in Spain. And that's just what it was built to do.

More than a century ago, real estate developer JC Nichols had a dream to bring the vibrant tradition of the Spanish marketplace, specifically that of Seville, to Kansas City.

That's just what he did, transforming 15 magical blocks in Kansas City into Country Club Plaza, an ode to Spain with its distinctly Spanish architecture.

Since its debut in the 1920s, the popular Kansas City destination has been referred to as The Plaza.

Today, this vibrant shopping village draws Missourians and visitors from all over to admire the Spanish architecture, shop, and dine.

Before you stop by one of the more than two dozen eateries for a bite, stroll through this mini-town, where you'll pass fountains, murals, and sculptures.

As you're exploring, head into some of the more than 70 shops. However, the plaza is so much more than a shopping and dining destination. It's a one-of-a-kind experience.

The Plaza hosts events throughout the year, from the annual Plaza Lighting Ceremony in November to the yearly Plaza Bunnies at Easter.

For a month around Easter, bunny sculptures adorn numerous spots throughout the Plaza. Bunny-themed events are also held throughout the month.
