3 Scenic Hiking Trails Surround The Small Town Of Bingham, Maine

Maine offers a variety of scenic and challenging hiking trails, perfect for exploring the state's natural beauty.

Are you on the hunt for a good hike in a quiet area? For great trails around Bingham, Maine, you'll want to start at these three first. The beauty surrounding this small town is amazing. Surrounding a town of less than a thousand residents, these trails are a great reason to head out this way for a day's adventure.

1. Houston Brook Falls Trail

If you need a short trail, you'll enjoy this half-mile hike out to a beautiful waterfall and back to the road. Though it seems like a short bit of walking, the waterfall is truly worth the trek. Even in the winter, people make this hike just to see the ice sculpture nature has created.

2. Mountain Loop and Beaver Pond Trail

Another short and beautiful trail, this little mountain loop runs about 2 miles in total. It's less busy than other trails in the area, but still great for nature trips or snowshoeing if you have the equipment. It does have a fair bit of elevation gain over these two miles, just so you're aware you might need to bring your stick.

3. Kennebec Valley Trail

Last but not least, the longest of these hikes is the 14.6 mile Kennebec Valley Trail. It's an easy route from point to point, but takes about six hours to complete. Not only is it great for a long hike, but you can use it for cross country skiing in the right season, or horseback riding if you have an equine friend to travel with. As a heads up, due to the horses around, dogs are not allowed on this specific trail.
