With cooler temperatures and a plethora of fun seasonal events, there’s so much to do in Louisiana during autumn. From pumpkin patches to themed festivals, and everything in between, here are seven of our favorite day trips that are perfect for a fall Saturday.

1. Test your navigational skills in a corn maze.

Nothing says fall quite like getting lost in a corn maze. Head on over to Dixie Maze Farms in Shreveport to experience this 8-acre corn maze, and see how long it takes you to get out. 2. Go back in time with a visit to the Renaissance Festival.

Cheer on jousting knights, dine on turkey legs and ale, and much, much more at this themed festival. Every fall, more than 600 artisans descend on the town of Hammond during the month of November and part of December to create the "Village of Albright," celebrating the best parts of the 16th century. This is one festival you won’t want to miss. The fair is found at 46468 River Rd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401.

3. Explore the Louisiana State Arboretum.

With 600 acres of forest and 5.5 miles of hiking trails, the Louisiana State Arboretum is a nature lover’s paradise. Find it at 1300 Sudie Lawton Ln, Ville Platte, Louisiana 70586.

4. Go hiking around Toledo Bend.

Both North and South Toledo Bend State Parks have several trails with scenic views of the reservoir. During the fall, the trees are absolutely stunning as they change colors.

5. Attend Oktoberfest.

For three weekends in October, you can eat authentic German food, drink an ice cold German beer, and dance to Oompah music at the annual Deutsches Haus Oktoberfest in New Orleans. Check it out at 1700 Moss St., New Orleans, LA 70119.

6. Spend some time exploring a state park.

Chemin-A-Haut State Park sits on a high bluff overlooking Bayou Bartholomew and is perfect for taking in the fall foliage. This 503-acre park has two playgrounds for the little ones, a picnic area for a scenic lunch, and several trails to explore. There are also RV hookups, primitive campsites, and cabins in case you’d like to make a weekend out of it.

7. Find the perfect pumpkin.
