Louisiana may not see the brilliant fall foliage that places like New England might experience, but we do see a bit of color down here. If you’re a leaf peeper looking to watch the colors change, consider a weekend getaway at this state park.
Chemin-A-Haut State Park is located in Bastrop, which is in Northern Louisiana.
Near the Arkansas/Louisiana state line.
This 503-acre park is the perfect spot for a fall weekend getaway.
You'll want to come out to this park in late October/early November to see the fall foliage.
An outdoor lover’s paradise, visitors to the park can enjoy one of the two trails that wind around the park.
Bobcat trail is 1.1 miles long and Boy Scout Trail is 1/4 mile long.
With views like this, you may never want to leave.
And who would blame you?
And that's ok! Because you can stay in one of their cabins for the weekend.
They also have RV hookups and primitive campsites.
They have standard cabins, deluxe cabins, and also a group cabin that can sleep up to 38 people.
The standard and deluxe cabins sleep up to 6.
In addition to overlooking Bayou Bartholomew, Big Slough Lake is also located near the edge of the park and you can rent a boat and enjoy some time on the water.
Make sure you bring your camera, because you'll want to capture these moments.
The colors are absolutely mesmerizing.
