Situated in southern Indiana, outside of the Hoosier National Forest is a tiny town of about 800 residents that is not known for much.
There you will find the most mysterious hidden gem to ever exist in the Hoosier state and possibly the world.
The Shoe Tree of Milltown, Indiana is a little local wonder that not even that many Hoosiers know exists. Few know how it began and it's anyone's guess how many pairs of shoes are hanging today.
The idea though is that if you toss up a pair of shoes, good luck will come to you. Perhaps it works if these many people are throwing shoes up there.
It is rumored, though, that even Larry Bird has a pair of sneakers on the tree.
The legend of this mysterious hidden gem dates back at least six decades. Another tree was the original Shoe Tree, but it was struck by lightning.
Today, the Shoe Tree has taken over two trees and is found at the very peaceful and quiet intersection of Devil's Hollow and Knight Road.
