10 Weird Attractions and Oddities You Will Only Find in Indiana

Indiana offers a variety of strange and unique attractions, from ice trees to giant toilets.

Odd, strange, weird, and entertaining – these are perfect words used to describe a Hoosier. In the state of Indiana, you have to be a little strange to fit in with other people. In our Hoosier state, we have no shortage of exciting attractions to enjoy. Here, however, are ten of the strangest ones across the state.

1.) Veal's Ice Tree

In 1961, the Veal family accidentally created the first ice tree. Since that time, they continue to replenish this ice tree every winter. Some years it stands 80 feet tall! You can find this tree in Acton, Indiana.

2.) Shoe Tree

In Albany, Indiana there is a small tree known as the shoe tree. This tree has branches draped in shoes.

There also happens to be a second shoe tree located in Milltown, Indiana. The original tree was sadly struck by lightning, but it didn’t take long for the shoes to spread to the other trees.

3.) The World’s Largest Ball of Paint

In Alexandria, Indiana, you can see the world’s largest ball of paint in person!

4.) Shoe Corner

In Dyer, Indiana there is a mysterious interaction which appears to be a magnet for shoes.

You can also find a street corner in Hanover Township, Indiana known as the shoe corner.

Did you know Indiana had a think for shoes? Why throw them away! They make such great décor.

5.) Woman Buried with Her Cadillac

Aurora Schuck, ironically from Aurora, Indiana, loved nothing more than just loved her Caddillac. For this reason, she asked her husband to make sure she was buried with it when she died. He ended up purchasing 14 grave plots just to have enough room to lower the vehicle into the ground with her body inside of it.

6.) Pizza King

Pizza King is a pizza place where you place an order which is delivered to you on a model train. Pizza king is just one step away from having robot waiters!

7.) Sharing the Streets with Trains

In Michigan City, it is a pretty common thing for you to see trains driving down the same street you are about to drive down.

9.) World's Largest Toilet

You can enjoy a ride on the world’s largest toilet in Columbus, Indiana. Yes, you read that right. This is an interactive giant toilet where you become a giant load.

10.) Trees Spell "Studebaker"

In 1937, trees were planted to spell out the word Studebaker. Today, you can still see these trees in South Bend. Keep in mind, you have to go pretty high up in the sky to see the word!
