Indiana is home to all sorts of cute little towns. Some small towns in Indiana are so sleepy and otherwise low-key that they fly under the radar, and others are quite notable for who-knows-what (but there's a bunch of 'em). The gorgeous little town we're going to look at right now is a mixture of both: it's non-fussy without being barren, and it's got a surprisingly interesting claim to fame, too. Plus, better still, it's located in the most beautiful part of Indiana: the coveted Brown County. Here are some wonderful things to do in Bean Blossom, Indiana!

Bean Blossom is an itty-bitty unincorporated township located in south-central Indiana, snugly set within Brown County (and with plenty to do and see as a result).

Originally called Georgetown, Bean Blossom was founded in 1833. In 1842, a post office was established, but by 1911, it was already gone.

Bean Blossom, however, was not to become a ghost town (which is usually what happens when the USPS packs up and shuts down).

Instead, it continued to thrive as one of the cutest small towns in Indiana, and besides, it's famous among a certain group of folks who really love old-school bluegrass music.

Bean Blossom, Indiana, is quite literally called the "Bluegrass Capital of the World", thanks to its being the town where the famed Bill Monroe Memorial Music Park and Campground is located.

For more than six decades, Bill Monroe Memorial Music Park and Campground has been hosting bluegrass and country musicians on its stage. Over the years, it's attracted thousands of fans and loyal attendees, and in 1967 it got even better: the Memorial Music Park hosted the first-ever Bill Monroe Memorial Festival, which is the longest-running bluegrass music festival in the world.

Who knew small-town Bean Blossom, Indiana, was home to such interesting significance?

Of course, even folks who aren't enormous fans of bluegrass will find plenty to love in Bean Blossom. The Bean Blossom covered bridge, for example, is one of the most beautiful historic covered bridges in Indiana, and it's gorgeous year-round (but it does take on a special magic in the fall when the leaves are gold and orange).

While you're here, be sure to also visit Brown County State Park to see Indiana's stunning Brown County at its absolute finest.

It's the perfect place to explore the amazing natural beauty of the Hoosier State, with miles and miles of trails, excellent camping opportunities, events, activities, and so much more.
