10 Of The Most Beautiful Fall Destinations In Georgia

Is there a better time and place than fall in Georgia? When the air starts to cool down and the leaves start to change, we just get in the mood to travel. We've gathered up a few of our favorite autumn destinations in Georgia that we think are worth a visit. Check them out:

1. Tallulah Gorge State Park: 338 Jane Hurt Yarn Rd, Tallulah Falls, GA 30573

Tallulah Gorge State Park is arguably the best state park in Georgia. This 1,000-foot deep gorge is magnificent at any time of year, but it's especially magical when surrounded by breathtaking fall foliage.

2. Savannah, GA

Savannah may seem like an odd choice for this list - after all, its coastal location in the southern portion of the state means it doesn't get the golden hues that our northern mountains do. However, the Hostess City is pleasantly cool in the fall. Many opt to visit in the warmer months, when temperatures often creep into the triple digits and the humidity is staggering. Fall is definitely a better time to check out this historic and beautiful city!

3. Amicalola Falls State Park: 418 Amicalola Falls State Park Rd, Dawsonville, GA 30534

Amicalola Falls State Park is home to the tallest waterfall in Georgia. The location up in the mountains means you'll get great leaf-peeping opportunities!

4. Dahlonega, GA

Dahlonega is one of the best small towns in Georgia. This place is chock full of attractions, including sweets shops, history museums, and, of course, beautiful scenery.

5. Washington, GA

Washington houses under 5,000 residents, but it's one of our favorite day trips in Georgia. The little town gets all decked out for the season.

6. Helen, GA

Did you know the Oktoberfest in Helen, Georgia is one of the longest in the world? The two-month party involves plenty of fun and also some pretty stunning scenery.

7. Blue Ridge, GA

Blue Ridge is one of the most beautiful places in Georgia. Absolutely nothing beats the sight of this small mountain town when the leaves are at their peak.

8. Ellijay, GA

Ellijay may be a small town of around 1,200 people, but it's the apple capital of Georgia. It's home to the annual Georgia Apple Festival, a wonderful celebration of fruit and fall fun.

9. Brasstown Bald

Brasstown Bald is the tallest natural point in Georgia. You can hike or drive to the top of the mountain, but either way, you'll be in for a bird's eye view of some amazing leaves!

10. Black Rock Mountain State Park: 3085 Black Rock Mountain Pkwy, Mountain City, GA 30562

Black Rock Mountain State Park is tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains and also features some incredible foliage. It's best enjoyed by hiking some of the park's wonderful trails.
