Start off by catching sunrise in New Castle, at Battery Park.

You'll have a great view of the horizon from any bench along the Delaware river.

Once the sun's up, head over to Newark's White Clay Creek State Park.

In the early morning hours, the trails are quiet enough that you can hear the babbling creek as you watch the sun begin to peek through the trees.

Next, drive over to Yorklyn to stroll the Mt. Cuba grounds, and eat your lunch in the lush grass.

The Mt. Cuba Center is the best place in the state for a nature-themed picnic.

Now that you've refueled from your morning adventures, drive down to Trap Pond State Park, in Laurel.

Gorgeous trails await you at this southern Delaware state park. Take a stroll around the pond to see the famous baldcypress trees living in the water, or embark on a longer hike and cover miles of trail.

No Delaware Great Outdoors Road Trip would be complete without a trip to the beach, so Cape Henlopen State Park is next on the list.

Hike to Fort Miles and climb an observation tower for an incredible view, or just walk along the sand and breathe in the salt air. You'll feel rejuvenated after your time on the beach.

You've done a lot of walking, so it's time to take it easy. Drive north to Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, where you can stay in your car and explore via auto-tour.

The auto tour will show off the best of Prime Hook, without tiring you out. Keep an eye out for foxes!

As the sun starts to sink, keep driving north towards Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. You'll find another auto-tour through an amazing natural landscape.

The Bombay Hook auto tour will take you through one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the country. See if you can spot any rare birds or other wildlife!

Finally, drive up to Delaware City, where you can catch a stunning sunset over the river from any waterfront spot.

If the skies are clear, you'll be treated to a colorful show. Now, head into town and grab a bite to eat!

Since you'll be in Delaware City already, you might want to stop by the state's most haunted restaurant for your dinner date. What's your favorite place to experience Delaware's Great Outdoors? Tell us in the comments!
