You are not alone but will want to change that ASAP, as these tall yet dainty falls - which are hidden within the always stunning Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park - are an incredible sight to see! And, if you’re thinking of adventuring to these falls during the colder months, you can even ice climb up around 150 feet of the falls! 2. Bridal Veil Falls (Telluride)
How can we have a list of the tallest waterfalls in Colorado without naming the tallest of them all? Located near Telluride, Bridal Veil Falls is the single tallest waterfall in Colorado. If you think Pagosa Springs is a treasure (which, of course, it is!), wait until you get a load of the nearby Treasure Falls! Conveniently located just off Highway 160, Treasure Falls is a 105-foot-tall spectacle that is sure to satisfy your wanderlust. It’s an easy to hike waterfall, which makes it satisfying on a longer road trip. Get out, stretch your legs, and hike on out to this easy to reach waterfall that’s a true treasure. 4. North Clear Creek Falls (Creede)
No need to adjust your screens, folks, as North Clear Creek Falls really IS this beautiful! Even better? There is no need to take a grueling hike to see it, as the North Clear Creek Falls Observation Site is situated along the Silverthread Scenic Byway right on State Highway 149. Pull over, stretch your legs, use the conveniently located restrooms, and break out that camera. This is one stunning spot to enjoy with everyone. In fact, the pullout and high lookout spot are even wheelchair accessible.
5. Zapata Falls (Alamosa)
Last but certainly not least on our unforgettable waterfall road trip is Zapata Falls, which is in eye-sight of the equally gorgeous Great Sand Dunes and features a 25-foot-tall waterfall that is unique in that rocks and cliffs encompass it. Without a doubt this is one of the best waterfalls in Colorado. Hike out to this stunning waterfall that appears to tumble down a cascade of crystalline rocks of the Sangre de Cristos. The water has formed a gorgeous chasm. It’s an amazing way to end an epic waterfall road trip!
