Here are some of our favorite Christmas towns in California. Each one will put even the grumpiest Scrooge into the holiday spirit.
1. McCloud

McCloud is a lovely winter retreat if you are looking for a place to play in the snow this holiday season. Nestled in the foothills of Mount Shasta, this small NorCal town is not only scenic, but it's an amazing place to throw a snowball. We recommend you plan a visit to McCloud the first weekend in December for McCloud Vintage Christmas, formerly known as Winterfest. During this annual event, you'll enjoy twinkling lights, holiday displays, cookie decorating, carriage rides, crafts, and so much more.
2. Redding
You will never be bored when you spend the holidays in Redding. Here, you'll find events and activities for the entire family, from a holiday light parade, an animated light show, and the Old Time Holiday Celebration at Shasta State Historic Park. Make sure you add the Redding Garden of Lights to your holiday bucket list as well. Located at the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, you can walk through 10 acres of gardens and two million lights. It’s one breathtaking display along the Sacramento River.

The entire community can easily be involved in Eureka's holiday events. This town hosts the Holiday Christmas Decorating Contest, where residents can adorn their homes in twinkling lights, animated displays, and other decorations. A simple drive around the city and you are sure to feel the holiday spirit. And that's just the beginning. Throughout the Christmas season, you can enjoy performances, visits with Santa, attend the annual Snowball Drop, and much more.
4. Corning
Corning is another small town with big holiday plans! On the first Saturday of December, this town hosts the Corning Hometown Christmas, which includes a light parade, decorating contest, visits with Santa Claus, and so much more.
