I Don’t Ski, but the Snow Tubing in Northern California Is Incredible

With the highest amount of snowfall in the Tahoe Basin, Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe offers the best snow tubing in Northern California. Soar down the powdery slopes for a winter adventure the whole family can enjoy.

I've never been comfortable in the snow. After all, I grew up in Texas, so it was a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of thing (and on the rare occasion we did get snow, it was more ice than powder, anyway). Even after multiple winter vacations in wintry landscapes, I still haven't worked up the courage to ski—not even the bunny slopes. Triple-digit summers? No problem? Dodging trees while hurdling down a snow-covered mountain? No, thank you.

Luckily, there's another option for folks like me who want to experience what skiing is like without actually doing it: snow tubing. Snow tubing is a fun, safe, family-friendly activity that requires no skill or training, and it's the perfect way to enjoy a winter day. Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe offers some of the best snow tubing in Northern California, perched atop Echo Summit at over 7,000 feet. It's Tahoe's highest tubing destination, so from December to April, you can soar down freshly-groomed slopes while taking in jaw-dropping views of snowcapped peaks all around.

Adventure Mountain receives more snowfall than anywhere else in the Tahoe Basin, making it the ultimate destination for making winter memories. Designated tubing areas feature clearly-marked lanes, and the resort provides tubes. Helmets are also available upon request. If you need winter gear, don't worry about planning a shopping trip as you can get all the essentials, even clothing, from the gift shop.

Daytime tubing sessions last two hours, and pricing is per person. You can also try nighttime tubing on Fridays and Saturdays—it's an entirely different experience that kids absolutely love. The evening sessions are 2.5 hours long, and you'll soak up every second of those extra 30 minutes.

As you slide down the mountain, crisp winter air invigorates your senses, and postcard-worthy scenery surrounds you. Kids and adults alike squeal with excitement at the sight of snow being kicked up by the tubes as more falls from the sky. Race each other to the bottom for the ultimate adventure! And don't forget to take lots of pictures so you can cherish these moments forever.

In addition to the best snow tubing in Northern California, Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe also has several areas for open snow play. Build a snowman, make snow angels, or have a snowball fight. No matter how you choose to enjoy the winter wonderland, it's sure to become a core memory.

The resort even has an on-site restaurant, Mountainside Café, where you can refuel with a hearty meal. Pizza, sandwiches, chili, and tomato soup with grilled cheese are just some of the delicious options. And, of course, beverages like coffee and hot chocolate are available to warm you up from the inside out. Visit the Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe website for more information, including dates, hours, and pricing.
