Private & Secluded Camping in Washington: 7 Remote Campgrounds to Explore

Memorial Day weekend tends to kick off the camping season here in Washington, and we’re ready for another amazing year of sleeping under the stars. But instead of heading back to your go-to campsite, try setting up camp somewhere new like a secluded campsite in Washington. These seven private campgrounds in Washington State are somewhat off the grid and always beautiful.

1. White River Campground, Mt. Rainier National Park

This quiet campground is one of three drive-in campgrounds within Mount Rainier National Park, and it definitely boasts the best views. There are 112 sites here, but they're all first come, first served.

2. Hoh Campground, Olympic National Park

Most people who camp at Olympic National Park choose to sleep near the beach, which is completely understandable. However, if more campers knew they could stay near the entrance to the Hoh Rain Forest (and sometimes sleep next to elk), they probably would.

3. Heart O' The Hills Campground, Olympic National Park

Located near Hurricane Ridge, Heart O' The Hills is a great place to spend a night after enjoying a long day of hiking. Sites here are large and well-distributed, so you can enjoy your privacy.

4. Silver Fir Campground, Glacier

This campground is situated in the forest along the North Fork Nooksack River, and it's completely relaxing. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring, and even if you're not typically a fan of camping, this place might win you over.

Let's take a little tour of Silver Fir Campground for some secluded camping near Deming, Washington in this video from Kay RV Travel:

5. Willaby Campground, Quinault

Located on the south shore of Lake Quinault, Willaby Campground is surrounded by dense forest. There are 19 campsites including 2 walk-in tent sites for backpackers.

6. Marcus Island Campground, Evans

Marcus Island Campground is hidden in the trees in the heart of the Lake Roosevelt Recreation Area. The campground is heavily shaded, so it makes a perfect summer escape. The main access road is single-lane and winding, but it's worth it, especially when you can relax and take in these beautiful waterfront views

7. Wildhorse Campground, Quincy

The Gorge Amphitheater is an amazing place to see a show, but the onsite campground can get crowded quickly. But this tranquil oasis is just two miles down the road, and it's fantastic. The campground has free hot showers, an onsite chef, and a free shuttle service to and from the Gorge.
