Enjoy Snowy Days and Starry Nights at This Winter Cabin Airbnb in South Dakota

Hidden away in Lead, South Dakota, snuggled within the gorgeous Northern Black Hills, is a little slice of heaven that will blow you away. Perfect for a solo outing or a couple's retreat, this little cabin is easily one of my favorite Airbnbs in South Dakota that I’ve ever found. It’s gorgeous, modern, and remote enough to make for the perfect winter escape from the real world. Come with me; let’s walk through this idyllic escape from real life together.  

Set in a forested wonderland, this A-frame beauty feels like everything is right in the world (well, the world of South Dakota, anyway.) It’s not terribly huge, but it’s the perfect size for a getaway for two. Huge picture windows on each wall of the cabin show a world outside filled with winter wonder. It's tough to be stressed out when there’s a layer of fresh snow on the ground and a blanket of millions of stars overhead.  

The amenities for this wonderful vacation home in South Dakota are as plentiful as its beauty; enjoy a hot tub and a fire pit outside - perfect for groups of friends to visit. Fall in love with the indoor fireplace, which is also perfect for the frigid winter nights South Dakota is so known for. Stargazing here is second to none, with a sky so full of wonder that it’s tough to tear oneself away from it to go indoors.  

Inside, you’ll enjoy a full kitchen where you can prepare wonderful meals to indulge in beside the fire (or wherever it strikes your fancy.) It’s luxurious and modern, and believe it or not, it’s quite affordable.  

Should you meander outside the cabin, Lead is a wonderful small town in South Dakota packed with fun stuff to do and see. Think of it as the gateway to the beautiful Black Hills, a way to truly acquaint yourself with the natural wonders that lurk everywhere, with endless possibilities for those who adore the world outside. Some of my favorite things to do in and around Lead include the Black Hills Mining Museum, which is perfect for the history buffs among us (guilty as charged.)  

In the winter, the Terry Peaks Ski Area offers outdoor delights for the whole family. As one of the state’s largest ski areas, you’ll surely have the time of your life. Also worth noting is the breathtaking Roughlock Falls State Nature Area, which offers a glimpse into the incredible natural world surrounding us in the upper Midwest.  

Once you’re tired and ready to call it a day, you’ll return to the stunning little A-frame cabin in Lead you’ve booked (and fallen madly in love with). Have dinner, do some stargazing, and then go to bed in the ridiculously comfortable, warm bed in the loft, so you can wake up fully rested for yet another day filled with adventure.
