Book This Dreamy Campsite Along South Carolina’s Saluda River, You Won’t Be Disappointed
Hiding in plain sight in Greenville, this waterfront campground in South Carolina is perfect for families.
It’s the perfect time of year to be spending your weekends exploring the great outdoors. As much as I love city life, it’s equally essential to unplug from the city and connect to a more natural setting. Thankfully, there are plenty of places in South Carolina to retreat to, including some campgrounds where you don’t have to leave the city at all! That’s the case with this dreamy campground in South Carolina that’s sitting pretty in Greenville, one of South Carolina’s coolest towns.
Welcome to Camp Moondog, one of the best Hipcamps to visit in South Carolina. It’s a family-friendly, dog-friendly campground in Greenville that hosts three campsites. It’s not big, which is perfect for folks looking for a cozy little patch of earth to spend a nature-driven weekend getaway.
The beautiful Saluda River surrounds the campsite, so be sure to bring your swimsuit, floaties, and tackle box.
The first campsite, The Bend, is an RV (or tent) site that can accommodate vehicles under 20 feet. It’s the only campsite that’s drive-up and wheelchair accessible. There are no electrical or water hookups. It’s just you and nature.
The second campsite, Fern Gully, is a tent campsite a short, one-minute walk from the parking area. You’ll be sleeping on a campsite with a magnificent view of the creek meeting the Saluda River. If you have a hammock, bring it! There are some excellent places to set it up at this campsite.
The third campsite, The Far Out, is the most private on the property. It’s about a five-minute walk from the parking lot and nestled right on the river. Fun fact: This spot inspired the owners to turn this little section of land on their property into a campsite!
All three campsites have fire pits and access to the river. Bring some tubes and float the day away! Or bring some beach chairs and do a little fishing.
At the end of the day, get a fire going and do a little star gazing. That’s always my favorite part of camping. Fall asleep to the sounds of the river rushing and wake up to the symphony of sounds from the songbirds in the trees. Sounds like a Disney movie, right?
