Need to get away? We feel ya. If camping is an option, then consider renting the awesome Crescent Group Campground in South Carolina. It’s located on a small peninsula that’s actually an island reachable by vehicle over a narrow causeway leading to the campground that sits perched on beautiful Lake Hartwell. The campground is designed for group camping in South Carolina, which means, if you really want the entire island all to yourself, all you need to do is reserve it.
Crescent Group Campground in Starr, SC, is usually utilized by youth groups and other family-oriented groups.
The campground is open seasonally and is shaped like the letter "U." The unique shape allows for a layout that includes two distinct loops, and means that most of the campsites have spectacular water views.
For under $600/night, you can rent both loops and truly have the island all to yourself. Or...
For an even more affordable option, rent the smaller loop (10 campsites) for a mere $180/night. The larger loop runs $396/night.
Whether your goal is to get away and have the entire island just for yourself, or you want to get friends and family together for a weekend of food, fellowship, and fun, Crescent Group Campground is a lovely place to fulfill those plans.
The campground roads are a combination of pavement and gravel. It has electric hookups, grills, running water, restrooms, and showers.
Many of the campsites are right on the lake. If you rent the island... you'll have dibs on your favorite.
Imagine waking up to a quiet walk along the shore. Bring your fishing pole to see if the fish are ready for breakfast. With any luck, you'll catch dinner; which you can cook on the grill that comes with the campsite, or over an open flame in your fire ring.
Crescent Group Campground is a favorite for a family gathering and group camping in South Carolina.
The island is just big enough to feel secluded from the stresses of everyday life, yet small enough to keep an eye on the little ones in the group. And the campsites are carved right into the natural flora of the island.
As for things to do, swimming is always an option. No lifeguards are on duty, so it's swim at your own risk. Beach shoes are recommended.
The island also comes with a playground, a group shelter with picnic tables, and canoe/kayak access via the natural shoreline.
The island campground is available seasonally from the beginning of April through the end of October each year.
Reservations are available only for Loop A (10 sites, max 100 people, 30 vehicles) or Loop B (22 sites, max 220 people, 66 vehicles), or rent BOTH loops and have the entire place to yourself. The campground is gated and gates are kept closed at all times to assure complete privacy.
