First Time Camper? This Accessible Campground in Pennsylvania Will Make You a Camping Convert
Looking to dip your toe into the camping world? Turtle Ridge Farms is an amazing farm stay in Pennsylvania not far from Amish Country's top dining.
I love the outdoors, but I've never been the most avid camper. While there's something beautiful about sleeping in the great outdoors, I tend to prefer my creature comforts! So when a campground truly wins me over, it has to be something special. That's the case for one farm stay in Pennsylvania, located not far from Lancaster and the food and shops of Amish Country. This has become one of my favorite spots in the state, and I usually stay in local hotels when I'm there. But after looking at Turtle Ridge Farms, I'm tempted to go for a change of pace and book a campsite at this beautiful spot next time I'm in town.
Located on a working farm filled with animals and beautiful surrounding landscape, this accessible campground features four tent sites and some amenities that are amazing for easing first-time campers into the experience. It's the kind of place that feels like you just stepped into a storybook, and every picture made me more excited to stay here.
When camping, most people want some privacy—but the companions at Turtle Ridge Farms are so adorable you might just change your mind! This farm is packed with animals, including sheep, chickens, geese, and a whole herd of friendly goats! That makes it a kid-friendly spot, especially for those who love friendly critters.
The thirty-five-acre site features four tent campsites, so bring your own temporary abode and prepare for a stay in a beautiful location near the woods and the farm's pond. Each site has a fire pit, so this is an amazing spot for an old-fashioned cookout. Bring some hot dogs and marshmallows and pretend it's summer camp!
I know there are some people who are still a little skeptical about camping because of the lack of amenities. I'm usually one of them, which is why I was so happy to discover that this farm stay has an on-site, accessible bathroom with a flush toilet! There's also a small on-site camp shop in case you run out of some essentials.
This campsite is the perfect hybrid of the great outdoors and a traditional farmstay. The campsites offer some privacy, but you'll be able to retreat to the ranch when you need to. The camp even offers farm-fresh eggs for breakfast! If you're looking for something unique to cook up for dinner, the farm is only a short hike to the Brandywine River, where you can reel in the catch of the day.
Have you stayed at Turtle Ridge Farms in Coatesville before? If not, make sure to tell your favorite travel partner about this article so you can book a stay on the official HipCamp listing! And if you're in the area, you're only a half-hour drive from the heart of Amish Country. Make sure to head over to the small town of East Earl to eat at Shady Maple Smorgasborg and explore the attached massive farm market—it's my personal favorite foodie slice of heaven.
