Oregon is home to some of the most lush and lovely forests in the country, and within this PNW wonderland, Silver Falls State Park stands out as not only the biggest, but also the best of all 254 Beaver State parks. This place is a vision; a portrait of pure, pristine, perfect Oregon beauty. Widely regarded as the "crown jewel" of Oregon’s state park system, this 9,000+ acre-park is also the largest and most popular -- and it's not hard to see why. Endless opportunities for recreation and exploration await within Oregon's largest state park, making it worthy of a multi-day adventure.
Of all the 254 Oregon State Parks, Silver Falls State Park is in a league of its own.
This park is breathtakingly beautiful; it possesses many of the Beaver State’s unique features and wonders; and with an abundance of stellar trails and campsites, it's no wonder this park is so beloved.
For starters, Silver Falls State Park is home to a lush temperate rain forest flush with Douglas-fir, western hemlock, Oregon grape, and other native trees and plants.
The park's Trail of 10 Falls traverses past -- you guessed it -- all 10 of the park's incredible cascades. This 7.4-mile trek is a bucket-list must for waterfall chasers in Oregon.
Silver Falls State Park is best-known for its waterfalls, in fact, with South Falls being the most spectacular. This beautiful, 177-foot stunner is a force, and visitors who embark on the park’s Trail of Ten Falls get the opportunity to walk behind its massive waterfall curtain.
Of course, that's not to discount the other fabulous falls in the park; Lower South Falls is another walk-behind waterfall that pours out of the earth in a jaw-dropping display of sheer power.
Beautiful all year-round, Silver Falls is a frozen wonderland in the winter, a vibrant Land of Oz during the height of fall foliage, and an emerald-green oasis in the spring and summer.
The camping at Silver Falls State Park is spectacular, too; if you're into pitching a tent and having an authentic experience in Oregon nature, this is the place to do it.
Of course, if you're into a more "glamping" kind of experience, Silver Falls State Park has 14 of the most charming, cozy cabins available to reserve, too!
Stand behind a waterfall curtain, traipse through old-growth forest, pitch a tent for the night... this Oregon State Park is a place to bask in the beauty of Mother Nature -- and you'll want several days to experience it all!
When was the last time you spent a day -- or more -- at Silver Falls State Park? It really is the superlative superstar of the Oregon State Parks system, for so many reasons.
