Built in 1889 during the midst of the gold rush, the hotel was originally called the Hotel Warshauer. It was renamed The Geiser Grand when Albert Geiser bought it in 1900.
It's absolutely deserving of such grandiose title. Everything about the Geiser Grand Hotel truly is grand, from its opulent dining area to its ornate ceilings.
Guest rooms feature stately, four-poster beds, glittering chandeliers, and gilded decor.
The historic lounge area is equally beguiling, with its worn wood bar and historic ambiance creating a total mood.
In fact, the hotel underwent a thorough renovation in the 1990s that restored its beautiful stained-glass ceiling, mahogany woodwork, and intricate chandeliers.
Winsome charms aside, however, the Geiser Grand Hotel is also known as one of the most haunted places in all of Oregon. Back in its early days, the Geiser Grand was *the* place to go for social events and fine dining, known as "The Queen of the Mines," in fact.
The hotel was such a happening place to be, that it seems some guests never left. The most famous of the hotel’s ghosts is known as “The Lady in Blue.” Dressed in a blue gown, her name was (or is?) Annabelle, and she is often seen walking up and down the main staircase.
Other paranormal sightings at the Geiser include a saloon dancer from the 1920s, a headless former chef, and a cowboy and his girlfriend.
No matter what you believe, there's undoubtedly a historic vibe to this hotel; an old-fashioned charm that's present all throughout Baker City.
