This New York Cabin Airbnb Has the Most Underrated Fishing Spot

We may have found the best fishing cabin in New York not far from Woodstock, and it's a perfect summer getaway.

The city is an amazing spot, and I'll never tire of exploring its countless attractions and restaurants. But during the summer in particular, it can get a bit overwhelming, and that's when I find it's the perfect opportunity to visit some of New York's less-traveled areas. Upstate and central New York are amazing in the summer if you want to camp, have a relaxing staycation, or go fishing in all of nature's glory. You can make a day trip up there, of course, but a few days' escape is often the perfect thing needed to recharge, and there's no better place to do it than in the tiny town of Red Hook (not to be confused with the Brooklyn neighborhood).

Less than half an hour from Woodstock, it's home to a modern riverfront cabin that I consider to be the best fishing cabin in New York. It sleeps four guests, making it ideal for a peaceful getaway for friends or family.

You'll be heading a bit off the beaten path for this destination, as this Red Hook modern cabin is far away from the road. That makes it a perfect retreat for those who truly want to beat the crowds. Overlooking a hill, this cabin offers amazing access to a nearby river which is regularly stocked for fly fishing.

Inside, this cabin is packed with all the modern amenities you could want, including WiFi and television and a grill for cooking outside. That's going to come in handy if you wind up reeling in the day's catch from the nearby river! The whole place feels bright and airy, with many windows offering a stunning view of the green forests surrounding the area everywhere you look.

The cabin only sleeps four people, with plenty of room for everyone, and it features two single beds and one queen bed. While all the beds are comfortable, we think the one in the living room with a wide window of the great outdoors will probably be the most popular! This spot is ideal for a family getaway or a small group of fishing-obsessed friends.

The cabin is wonderful, but I really have a hard time seeing myself spending too much time inside when I'm here! Between the grill and the fire pit, it'll be easy to have dinner outside most nights. And the river is literally feet away from the house, so bring your fishing gear, cast a line, and prepare to see what bounty the rivers of Red Hook have waiting for you.

Have you gotten to stay at this peaceful fishing cabin in New York yet? If not, tell a fishing buddy or two about this article and book your own getaway on the official Airbnb listing. Most dates in summer are wide open! While you're here, if you want a break from the peace and quiet, we highly recommend visiting Woodstock to see what unique finds you discover at Mower's Flea Market, which is open every weekend starting in mid-May.
