A New Hotel With A 24-Floor Glass Tower Is Set To Open In New York In October, And It’s Bucket List-Worthy
The Fifth Avenue Hotel in New York City, which is slotted to open on October 16th, is no normal hotel. It takes a five-story 1907 Renaissance-style hotel building and it combines it with a brand sparkling new 24-floor glass tower. The end result is a unique and special hotel that carves out singular room within a crowded luxury accommodation space in Manhattan. The older building is made by the architecture firm McKim, Mead & White, who are behind quite a few iconic New York City landmarks, chief among them Penn Station and The Morgan Library and Museum.
The new tower is created by the global design firm Perkins Eastman along with the New York-based firm PBDW Architects. It’s an amazing mix of past, present, and future.
The hotel is situated in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood and will feature 153 rooms and suites, whose interiors have been handled by the Martin Brudnizki Design Studio.
The interiors of the rooms will be see Pagoda-style lamps collide with Murano glass chandeliers and twinkling ceiling lights. It’s a beautiful and unique merging of design sensibilities, and it just works.
A few of the rooms will even have terraces, but all will have amazing views. The tower has a penthouse that looks over Madison Square park and the Empire State Building, while another comes with a Japanese garden and soaking tub, whose views look out to Fifth Avenue.
Then there’s the hotel’s in-house restaurant, which comes care of the legendary chef Andrew Carmellini and will, again, combine the best of classic New York food with more contemporary tastes.
