This New York Vacation Rental Is a Literal Work of Art (and It’s Even More Stunning in Fall)

A truly unique Airbnb in Rhinebeck, New York, this creation of architect Steven Holl puts you right in the middle of nature—which is about to put on its best fall colors.

Once you get outside of the biggest city, New York is an Airbnb lover's dream come true. There are so many amazing, unique escapes in the Empire State—ranging from rustic cabins in the woods to city penthouses on the banks of Lake Erie. However, one of these vacation rentals isn't just a getaway—it's a work of art that you can stay inside.

A truly unique Airbnb in Rhinebeck, New York, this architectural wonder in the woods is the creation of architect Steven Holl. Part of his T-Space project, an experimental art gallery in Rhinebeck, it's designed to be an environmentally friendly, open-space Airbnb that provides unparalleled views of the surrounding forest. And that makes this the perfect time for a visit—because we're getting to the end of summer, and soon the trees will be putting on their fall colors.

Rhinebeck is an incredible small town in New York, but to find this destination, you'll have to head away from the town and into the woods. You can't miss it; this Airbnb is a full-on art project, with a unique design meant to truly let the light in and allow you to enjoy the great outdoors from the comfort of your temporary home.

The layout here is one of the most unique I've ever seen. It's a very large studio, with essentially one massive room with just enough side spaces to offer a little privacy. This gives it an airy feel, and it's ideal for a family or a close group of friends who are okay with sharing a living space. It sleeps up to four people.

There is a bedroom area off to the side, offering a little more privacy, and this contains a queen bed and a single bed with some of the best views in the house. The other sleeping spaces are in the living room - right under the main skylight!

Despite how offbeat this location is, it does have a lot of the creature comforts you'd expect. A full kitchen allows guests to cook their own meals, and the house is equipped with Wifi for those who want to do some work while on vacation. The house is equipped with a combined heating-cooling system so it stays a moderate temperature no matter when you visit.

The surrounding area is gorgeous all year, but there's something truly unforgettable about visiting it during the fall. The fall foliage has never been so vivid as when you're seeing it at sunset through the huge windows found all around this unique, artistic Airbnb.

Have you stayed at this architectural wonder in the woods before? If not, there are plenty of days available for stays in the fall—so tell your travel partner about this article and book your own stay on the official Airbnb listing! Rhinebeck is also a very conveniently located town in New York; it's located about two hours out of the city, and only a half-hour drive from Saugerties, one of the best small towns in New York for a day trip.
