The New Orleans Christmas Display That’s Been Named Among The Most Beautiful In The World

The Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans transforms into a spectacular winter wonderland during the holiday season, making it a must-visit for Christmas celebrations.

New Orleans is a wonderful place to spend Christmas, and we locals tend to go all out for the holidays. From the twinkling lights on Canal Street to the enchanted Christmas in the Oaks display, we sure do know how to get into the holiday spirit! If you're looking for a beautiful New Orleans Christmas display that doesn't involve long lines and makes for the perfect holiday greeting card, look no further than The Roosevelt Hotel. It's been a New Orleans tradition for decades, and it's one of the most fun ways to spend winter in New Orleans. If you've never been, you're in for a treat!

The Roosevelt Hotel has been a Canal Street landmark since it opened in 1893.

It originally opened under the name "The Hotel Grunewald," and changed ownership (and names) several times over the next century before being purchased by the Waldorf Astoria Collection in 2007 and becoming the stunning New Orleans hotel that it is today.

The entire hotel is truly stunning, but the star of the show is the hotel lobby.

Every year, the hotel pulls out all the stops.

The result is a block-long lobby transform into a winter wonderland that’s so spectacular, even the Grinch would smile.

The magic of Christmas surrounds you everywhere you look and it's quite the display!

Visitors marvel at the estimated 112,000 lights, 1,600 feet of garland, 4,000 glass ornaments, 78 birch trees, 40+ Christmas trees, and 300 festive bows. Now THAT'S how you create a holiday light display!

It makes for the perfect photo opportunity, too.

It's a tradition for many New Orleans families to have their photo taken against this gorgeous backdrop.

And during the holiday season, the hotel hosts several special events.

You never know what local celebrity may make an appearance!
