The Scenic Lodge Nestled In Mississippi’s Roosevelt State Park Is The Perfect Homebase For Adventure
Roosevelt State Park in Mississippi offers a variety of recreational activities and lodging options, making it a top destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
When in need of a getaway, skip the TSA precheck and, instead, head to Roosevelt State Park! One of the best state parks in Mississippi, it’s brimming with perks, including a lakefront motel. Of course, you likely won’t be spending much time inside, since the park offers an abundance of recreational opportunities.
Providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Roosevelt State Park is nestled in Morton, a tiny town between Meridian and Jackson.
An outdoor enthusiast’s dream come true, the park boasts a wealth of recreational opportunities in a picture-perfect setting.
Shadow Lake is one of the park’s biggest perks. The 150-acre freshwater lake offers boating, water skiing, and fishing.
The water-related fun doesn’t end with Shadow Lake, though.
There’s also a seasonal swimming pool. Typically open between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the 2,600-square-foot pool overlooks Shadow Lake.
Just a short distance from the pool sits a 36-foot waterslide, which is also open seasonally.
Hiking is also a popular pastime at Roosevelt State Park – and for good reason.
The park’s gently sloping landscape is stunning, especially during fall when vibrant foliage consumes it.
What’s more, Roosevelt State Park isn’t far from Bienville National Forest. In fact, you can view the forest from the park’s lookout tower.
Picnic pavilions, playgrounds, disc golf, tennis courts, a softball field, and performing arts and media center are also among Roosevelt State Park’s amenities.
The park also boasts an array of camping and lodging options. In addition to over 100 RV and tent sites, the park features more than a dozen cabins and a lakefront motel.
Each room in the waterfront motel provides views of Shadow Lake and is furnished with everything needed for a comfy stay, including a kitchenette.
Bringing tons of opportunities for adventure, along with an array of lodging options, Roosevelt State Park ranks pretty high up there when it comes to state parks in Mississippi.
Roosevelt State Park isn’t the only state park in Mississippi that belongs on your bucket list. Offering all the perks of a state park, plus the fun of a water park, Buccaneer State Park is also worth a visit.
