The Landmark Inn is located at 230 North Front Street in Marquette.

This unique hotel originally opened in January of 1930, and its history has followed a fascinating path during its decades of operation.

Throughout the years, all sorts of famous faces made appearances and stayed the night at The Landmark Inn, from Louis Armstrong to the Rolling Stones to Amelia Earhart.

Between 1982 and 1997, the hotel temporarily closed its doors — today, however, it operates as one of Marquette’s loveliest popular places to stay.

With this amazing history, though, comes a hearty dose of ghost stories. The inn has become the subject of plenty of eerie tales over the years.

The inn's Lilac Room supposedly houses the ghost of a woman who stands near the window, patiently waiting for the return of her late lover, who perished at sea.

Another tale asserts that hotel employees have received phone calls to the front desk directly from the Lilac Room — even when there’s no guest checked in.

Some visitors have report having experienced everything from flickering lights to strange, disembodied voices throughout the night. Talk about frightening!
