There’s something timeless and whimsical about a train station. Each visit conjures images of busy travelers venturing off on exciting adventures or returning home after weeks away. If you’re fascinated by the unique history of train travel, you’ll have an absolute blast visiting this one-of-a-kind bed and breakfast situated in a converted depot.
The Rooms at Grayfield sit at 310 West Chicago Street in Jonesville, Michigan.
This stunning inn is situated within the former Jonesville Depot, which was originally constructed in 1898. During this time, the town of Jonesville served as a major hub for westbound travel.
Jonesville Depot serviced multiple train routes. During the mid-19th century, it was even a key stopping point on the Main Line between Chicago and New York.
By the 1950s, however, train travel throughout the area declined significantly and the depot closed its doors. The property was purchased in 1970 and converted into a lovely estate.
In 2004, the owners chose to establish the beautiful Rooms at Grayfield, hoping to share the stunning beauty and fascinating history of the depot with visitors.
The inn houses five immaculately decorated guest rooms, each of which combines modern comforts with hints of the past. When you stay here, you’ll feel right at home.
As if the rooms themselves weren’t gorgeous enough, Grayfield also offers eight acres of lush gardens to explore. With everything from a koi pond to sitting areas, there’s nothing not to love.
Visitors will even be treated to mouthwatering dining options at the on-site eatery, which is reserved solely for guests at the inn. Each meal is prepared perfectly, and breakfast is made daily to order.
From a marvelous sunroom to a cozy fireplace that’s perfect for conversation with fellow guests, there’s truly something here for everyone. On occasion, a train even makes its way by outside the inn!
So, what are you waiting for? When you’re ready to combine a unique sense of history with a cozy, romantic getaway, look no further than the Rooms at Grayfield.
