This Rustic Maine Cabin Has the Most Underrated Fishing Spot
We discovered the best fishing cabin in Maine, and it's not far from Acadia National Park, making it one of the state's best-kept secrets.
As I plan a trip to Maine in the coming year, I'm excited to be returning to Acadia National Park after almost thirty years. This stunning national park is the heart and soul of Maine's nature scene, and as summer arrives, it will get pretty crowded! That makes a peaceful spot in the area the definition of a diamond in the rough, and one fishing cabin in Maine, not far from the park, definitely qualifies.
Located in the peaceful town of Eastbrook, the Wild Blueberry Cabin is a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature everywhere you look. Even better, it's located by peaceful Abrams Pond, and this stunning waterfront offers private access to one of the best fishing docks in the state. If your ideal summer involves whiling away long hours reeling in the catch and taking in nature's beauty, it might just be the perfect getaway.
How did this charming cabin get its name? It's located in the heart of wild blueberry country, which means you might be able to pick some for a snack. That's just one of the reasons to book a stay at this rustic slice of heaven. It sleeps six guests and is an ideal spot for a family getaway or a fishing expedition for a group of friends.
While the place definitely looks like it stepped out of a historic Maine novel, this old-fashioned getaway still offers a touch of modern comfort. It features fast Wi-Fi, central air conditioning for when the Maine summer gets a little sweltering, a full kitchen, and a barbecue grill out back if grilled fish is calling your name!
Two bedrooms with queen beds are ideal for a good night's sleep, and every area of the house has the same charming wood paneling. While the place certainly looks rustic, I was impressed with every detail. It's less than an hour from the main access to Acadia National Park, making it an easy day trip to a wonderland filled with stunning hiking trails.
But you might not need to go that far to get your fill of a beautiful Maine summer. Abrams Pond, located just minutes away from the house with private access, is a stunning lake with a long dock that makes a perfect place for fishing. The pond is regularly stocked with game fish, and the available kayaks are a great way to spend a sunny day. And when the sun goes down, it truly feels like paradise.
Now is the perfect time to tell a fishing buddy or five about this little slice of heaven and book your spot on the official Airbnb listing. Summer spots are going fast, but it's just as stunning throughout the year. And if you can't get enough of the water, make sure to head over to Acadia and enjoy a relaxing hike on the popular Ocean Path Trail.
