1. Lake Bistineau State Park

2. Bogue Chitto State Park

This 1,786-acre state park offers everything from tent camping to cabins overlooking the bluffs. The rolling landscape lends to some beautiful scenery along the nature trails and the park is also home to Fricke’s Cave, which is actually more of a gorge that’s caused by water erosion creating delicate sandstone spires. 3. Lake Claiborne State Park

Nestled against the beautiful Lake Claiborne, this northern Louisiana state park is a fisherman’s paradise. The 6,400-acre lake is stocked with bass, catfish, crappie, sunfish, perch, and much more just waiting for you to catch and cook up for supper. Not much of a fisherman? 4. Lake Fausse Pointe State Park

Head on down to Cajun Country to experience a whole new adventure in this 6,000-acre park in the Atchafalaya Basin. The many waterways surrounding the park offer great canoeing and kayaking opportunities, and the lakefront cabins offer views so spectacular you may never want to leave. 5. Sam Houston Jones State Park

7. Poverty Point Reservoir State Park

For a relaxing getaway, there’s no better destination than Poverty Point Reservoir State Park. The 2,700-acre man-made lake is ideal for fishermen looking to reel in some largemouth bass or channel catfish. There is a nature trail that winds along an off-shoot of Bayou Macon, offering some beautiful scenery along the way. 8. Tickfaw State Park

Some the most unique attractions of Tickfaw State Park are the different ecosystems you’ll encounter. Their boardwalk trails will lead you through a cypress/tupelo swamp, a mixed pine/hardwood forest, a bottomland hardwood forest, and the Tickfaw River. The cabins offer a peaceful oasis where you can just sit back and listen to the symphony of sounds from your porch; a perfect ending to a day spent exploring the natural landscape of the area. 9. North and South Toledo Bend State Park

The Toledo Bend Reservoir is one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the country. During the summer, it is popular for water sports and attracts fishermen from all over the country looking to try their luck. There are multiple trails between the two state parks, and South Toledo Bend is known for its bald eagle population, so keep your eyes peeled!
