Not only are they a great way to get away from it all for a few days, but they allow you to be immersed in our beautiful Louisiana landscape. Bayou Segnette State Park is one of the most underrated state parks in Louisiana.
It's only a 15-minute drive from New Orleans, yet it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere. It often gets overshadowed by nearby Barataria Preserve, an enchanting labyrinth of nature trails through the swamps. Both are great options for nature lovers, but you can't spend the night at Barataria Preserve.
Many years ago, there were some cabins at Bayou Segnette State Park, but they were damaged during Hurricane Katrina and it took some time to rebuild them.
Although it has taken many years, they have been replaced with these awesome floating cabins on Bayou Segnette, some of the best floating cabins for rent in Louisiana.
These specially designed cabins are built to float right on the water.
This way, if and when the water rises during a storm, the cabins will simply rise with it, instead of becoming severely flooded. This is the perfect innovation for cabins all across Louisiana! A Bayou Segnette cabin rental is a wonderful getaway.
They each come with their own porch and can sleep up to eight people.
There is ample room for cooking, dining, and lounging as well, so no one will feel cramped. You'll have plenty of space.

Many of them highlight our beautiful natural landscape, which we love, but there are plenty that have a historic side, too. Fairview-Riverside State Park is a little bit of both. Since it’s one of the smallest state parks in Louisiana, it often gets overlooked but this historic park in Louisiana is worth a few hours of your time. Let’s check it out:
You can find Fairview-Riverside State Park over in the charming little town of Madisonville in St. Tammany Parish.
Tiny but mighty, this state park stretches across 98 acres, making it the second smallest state park in Louisiana.
Don’t let the size deter you; there is still a lot to see at this hidden gem park in Louisiana.
Nestled against the Tchefuncte River, visitors can enjoy a relaxing stroll on the nature trail, which offers spectacular waterfront views.
The nature trail is only 0.25 miles long, so bring the kids! They’ll love it. There’s also a playground for the little ones to enjoy and picnic tables scattered throughout, in case you decide to pack a lunch. Watching the boats and birds pass by is excellent "television".
The main attraction to the park is the Otis House, which you’ll see right when you enter this historic park in Louisiana
Originally built in the 1880s, this house has a fascinating history that you can learn all about on one of the tours offered here. The building is often under construction, so be sure to check the website if you're interested in a tour.
Otis lived in the home until his death in 1962 and left the property to the State of Louisiana so it could be used as a recreational site for others to enjoy.
In 1999, the house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
There are no cabins here, but plenty of RV slots if you'd like to spend a day or two exploring the area.
