This waterfront camp is the picture-perfect rental to call home while you explore Morgan City.

The 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom camp can sleep up to 12 people, so go ahead and bring the whole krewe.

The rental overlooks Bayou Long and even has its own private pier.

The rental is close to many of Morgan City’s beautiful parks, like Brownell Memorial Park & Campanile.

The waterfront park was gifted to the city by Claire Horatio Brownell who wanted to set up a peaceful little area for people to connect with God, nature, and their surroundings. The 9.5-acre park has a lovely little nature trail that’s often illuminated with many colorful wildflowers, and since the park overlooks Lake Palourde, you’ll have some splendid waterfront views as you wander around.

Nearby, Lake End Park is another beautiful waterfront park you'll want to check out.

Lake End Park also overlooks Lake Palourde, and is the better option if you want to soak up some sun or go swimming. There’s a little beach area for you to sink your toes in, and swimming in the lake is a popular pastime during the warmer months.

No visit to Morgan City is complete without paying a visit to Mr. Charle.

The International Petroleum Museum, also known as the Rig Museum, takes you behind the scenes of the offshore drilling industry.

Here, you’ll climb aboard Mr. Charlie, and authentic oil rig that was built in 1954 and drilled hundreds of offshore wells in its 40 years of service.

You’ll see how the crew lived, the sleeping quarters, the kitchen, and more. Mr. Charlie could accommodate a crew of 58 and revolutionized the offshore oil industry. The rig retired in 1986 when drilling activity reached deeper water than the rig was built for. It’s the only place in the world where you can board an offshore drilling rig, and well worth the effort!

After a full day of exploring Morgan City, you’re bound to work up an appetite.

Rita Mae’s Kitchen is our top pick for where to eat in Morgan City. It’s been a local favorite ever since it opened its doors back in 1993.

This humble eatery has a menu full of hearty Louisiana staples, including some of the best gumbo you’ve ever tasted.

Once you’ve splurged on a delicious home-cooked meal, head back to your vacation rental and enjoy a sunset over the bayou with your favorite beverage. Cheers!
