Some places in Kentucky have to be seen to be believed. There are many magnificent campgrounds and water parks in Kentucky, but can you imagine a campground with an amusement park, a racetrack, and a waterpark all in one? Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky is an epic campground with so much to see and do! This is actually one of the most notable amusement parks in Kentucky, and like any good theme park, having accommodations on the grounds is good for the park - people don't have to leave the fun when the sun goes down! There aren't too many resort campgrounds in Kentucky, but this one is absolutely worth a visit from anywhere in the state. From this aerial view, you can see how massive Beech Bend Park is with the racetrack, the amusement park rides, the waterpark, and loads of camping spots. Each one would be enough on its own as an attraction. You could spend a whole weekend here and still not do it all!
Let’s start off with the waterpark. Splash Lagoon has tons of twisty waterslides and swimming pools for all ages.
You’ll also find a log ride and a huge wave pool! There’s a Lazy River, a Giant Leisure Pool, and an obstacle course called the Lily Pad Challenge. You can even rent cabanas and canopies.
The amusement park has thrill rides, family rides, and children’s rides so the whole family can have an exciting time. There are huge rollercoasters like the Kentucky Rumbler and Air Race as well as thrilling rides like Moby Dick, Sea Dragon, Zero-G, and The Vortex.
There are gentler rides for the little ones like this merry-go-round, bumper cars, a huge carousel, a Tilt-A-Whirl, a carpet slide, and more.
Then there’s the Beech Bend Raceway where you can watch races with all kinds of cool-looking cars. There are full-on modern racecars, nostalgic racers from decades past, motorcycle races, a “Street Outlaws” race with lots of drifting, and more. If you’d like to get in the driver’s seat, there’s go-kart racing as well.
Let’s not forget that this is also a campground. There is ample space for everyone for all kinds of camping. There are over 400 camping spaces with full hookup RV sites, 14 acres of wooded tent and RV camping, and an open area with paved sites.
Primitive camping is also available next to the Barren River where you can even go fishing if you like. You may need to make it a 3-day weekend to see and do everything!
