There are tons of great places to stay in Illinois, but finding the right spot for some peace and relaxation is key. Living in a suburb of Chicago, I usually look for a vacation home rental that offers the type of solitude you just can't get near the city. Nature and history lovers seeking a remote getaway will appreciate this handbuilt vacation home rental near Shawnee National Forest.

Located in Union County, Illinois is this charming log cabin, built by hand using Oak trees.

It features Wi-Fi, a gas fireplace, cable, and central A/C for a comfortable stay with modern amenities. On average, it rents for about $187 a night.

The tucked-away cabin offers a rustic, yet luxurious, feel with a western-farmhouse decor style. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal and have fresh coffee, and features a beautiful farmhouse sink.

Soak in the hot tub under the stars after a long day of hiking and exploring the area.

This is definitely where you'd find me.
