Spend The Night In A Teepee At This Unique Idaho Campground

Buffalo Run Park in Island Park, Idaho offers year-round camping and glamping opportunities with close proximity to Yellowstone and Harriman State Parks.

Island Park is one of my favorite outdoor destinations in Idaho. Not only is this mountain town near multiple national parks and state parks, but it is home to countless outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, rafting, and more. While there are several vacation rentals and accommodation options in Island Park, one of the best places to set up your base camp for countless adventures is Buffalo Run Park. With both glamping and camping opportunities, this year-round Idaho campground is one you’ll be anxious to visit.

Welcome to Buffalo Run Park. This is a year-round campground located right along Highway 20 in Island Park and it is the perfect place to spend the night under the stars.

Buffalo Run Park is a delightful campground with 20 RV sites offering both water and electricity.

The campground features numerous trees that provide much-needed shade, and you’ll even find a small creek along the back of the property that adds a little extra charm.

While the campground is nice, many people come to Buffalo Run Park for its glamping opportunities.

There are multiple cabins around the park where you can feel like you are immersed in nature, yet still enjoy many comforts of home.

The Mountain Man Cabins, for example, are just one option and include one queen-size bed, a European-style bathroom and shower combo, and a small kitchen area.

For a cabin that is just a little larger, check out the Buffalo Cabins. These cabins include a bathroom with shower, kitchenette with stove and oven, and enough space for a couple or even a small family.

And if you want something a little unique, book a stay in one of the tepees.

The tepees are the perfect place to stay in the summer months as there is no electricity or heat. Each tepee has four platform twin beds, perfect for a small group of friends or a family.

And while this campground is certainly a wonderful place to rest and relax, you’ll want to spend some of your time exploring and visiting many of the wonders that are just a short drive away.

Yellowstone National Park is approximately 30 minutes from this unique Idaho campground and Harriman State Park is less than 10 minutes away.

And while summer is a wonderful time to visit Buffalo Run Park, never overlook a stay during the winter. Not only can you avoid many crowds during this time of year, but you’ll feel like you are in a winter wonderland.
