Choosing a campground can be tough when you're an Idahoan. An abundance of great campsites can be both a blessing and a curse, especially for the indecisive. If you ask people what their favorite campground is, it'll probably differ for each person. There are some great ones to choose from, but Blue Lake near Cascade, Idaho might just be the most beautiful one!
Blue Lake is located just outside of Cascade, Idaho in the Boise National Forest, only about 2 hours outside of Boise.
The lake and surrounding forestry are insanely picturesque. But to reach this incredible view, you must go on a hike.
The Blue Lake Trail makes for a hike you'll remember for the rest of your life. Hike to the top to watch the sunset over the lake.

While technically not a campground, you will find areas all around this lake where you can enjoy a primitive camping experience. Just remember that there are no bathroom facilities at the lake. You must also pack out everything you pack in and leave no trace.
Start your morning off in total zen surrounded by mountain mist. You don't want to forget a fishing pole as this is the perfect place for some time along the shore.
Blue Lake's crystal clear water is also the perfect spot to cool off.
Seriously, the views of this place are to die for.
The very best part about Blue Lake is the nighttime views! Miles away from light pollution, fall asleep under vibrant stars and wake up to amazing sunrises. It is heavenly!
The Blue Lake Trail is approximately 1.3 miles out and back. The trail also boasts moderately challenging areas, so plan accordingly. You can learn more about this trail on the U.S. Forest Service website.
