Perched high above the Jacks River, this one-of-a-kind Blue Ridge getaway combines elevated adventure with luxurious comfort, offering guests panoramic vistas from every level—including a rooftop deck that feels like the top of the world.

It's been a while since I've come across an Airbnb in Georgia that completely takes my breath away. Not only is this incredible lookout tower Airbnb in Blue Ridge the ultimate fall getaway, but it truly is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Just when I thought the property couldn't get any cooler from the exterior, I saw the patio, the fire pit, and the views that came with them. This 60-foot-tall tower sleeps up to three guests comfortably and has some of the most incredible fall views you can imagine.

If you’ve ever wanted to live out your “cabin in the woods” fantasy with a dash of high-altitude adventure, River Forest Lookout in Blue Ridge, Georgia, might just be your dream escape. This one-of-a-kind, off-grid oasis rises 60 feet above the forest floor, set on 14 acres deep in the breathtaking Cohutta Wilderness. This is the kind of getaway that lingers in your memory long after check-out.

The journey begins about 30 to 35 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge, where you’ll leave behind the bustle of shops and cafés for a secluded mountain retreat. Upon arrival, you’ll park at the base camp before hopping into a jeep for the final mile-long ride up to the tower. It’s a fitting preview for the adventure ahead.

The lookout is built from two cleverly repurposed shipping containers, referred to as “cabs.” The main cab houses the bedroom, kitchenette, and living area, while the second cab is home to a fully equipped bathroom. Inside, you’ll find thoughtful touches like a double-size adjustable bed, a dining nook for two, and floor-to-ceiling glass walls that frame uninterrupted views of the surrounding wilderness. Evenings are extra cozy with a propane wall heater or the mini wood-burning stove crackling in the corner.

River Forest Lookout operates on solar power, drawing water from its own well, making it a low-impact choice for eco-conscious travelers. The kitchenette comes stocked with a microwave, stove, fridge, and coffee machine, perfect for whipping up breakfast before a day of hiking or fly fishing.

Speaking of fishing, the property offers guided trophy trout fly fishing on its private waters. Guests can schedule a trip in advance for a truly immersive mountain experience (and maybe bragging rights back home).

The main cab’s balcony offers a front-row view of the Jacks River, with a grill for outdoor cooking and a table for al fresco dining. But the crown jewel? The rooftop terrace. Outfitted with a gas-powered fire pit and lounge seating, it’s the ultimate stargazing spot—free from city lights, with nothing but the sounds of the forest as your soundtrack.

With no interruptions and nature at your doorstep, River Forest Lookout offers the rare opportunity to fully disconnect. Enjoy sipping coffee with the sunrise, exploring the Cohutta Wilderness, or watching the Milky Way dance overhead; this tower delivers the kind of magic you can’t find on a typical fall weekend getaway.

Just remember—guests are required to sign a waiver before arrival, and the lookout is accessible only by jeep from the base camp.
