This Florida Airbnb Looks Like It Belongs in Japan
With Japanese-inspired design elements, a spa-like pool area, and breathtaking ocean views, this Captiva Airbnb belongs at the top of your travel wish list.
I've always wanted to travel to Japan, and one of the main reasons is its stunning architecture, often admired for its intentional design and harmony with nature. Fortunately, for those of us who can't opt for a long international flight, there are ways to experience Japanese-inspired design right here in the Southeast. One such place is a breathtaking Airbnb that looks like Japan in Captiva, Florida, a luxury home for up to eight guests where swaying palm trees meet stunning craftsmanship and inspiring design.
What Makes This Airbnb Look Like Japan
Admiring the outside of Suraya, you may not guess that inside is an Airbnb that looks inspired by Japan, and one of the most unique Airbnbs in Florida. But a closer look reveals the exquisite details that make this rental home a must for anyone who appreciates design and natural beauty. Swaying palm trees and Japanese garden-inspired design lead you inside, where you'll be greeted by a grand light-filled atrium, stone tiles, and a seated Buddha statue.
What makes this space so memorable is that it isn't an exact copy of Japanese architecture but rather a modern interpretation that captures calmness, balance, and the serenity of nature. Suraya translates to "House of Sun," and it's tucked away within South Seas Resort. The home is elegantly understated, promoting a sense of tranquility and peace at every turn. I love how deliberately the space is used, too—nothing is random or out of place. It's no wonder that the property was awarded the prestigious Gold Aurora award for architecture.
The Best Features of This Florida Airbnb
By far, my favorite feature of this Airbnb is the view. Step outside to the spacious deck, and you'll be greeted with breathtaking views of the ocean. This is where the space rings true to its Captiva Island location: beautiful Gulf views for as far as the eye can see. Can't you picture spending a perfect morning sipping coffee out here, listening to the sounds of nature?
The main bedroom is another knockout. A lovely blend of Japanese-inspired design and modern comforts, the suite feels less like a vacation rental and more like a top-notch resort stay. There's an island vanity with double sinks, natural-stone accents, and a Japanese plunge pool.
Each guest room offers seclusion and privacy, but when you're ready to socialize, the open floor plan lends itself perfectly for flowing in and out of rooms and enjoying quality conversation. There's even a dedicated pool area outside between the home and the beach with daybeds, poolside seating, and a hot tub. And, of course, the miles of unspoiled sandy beaches should not be overlooked!
Why Travelers Love This Airbnb
Suraya is a newer listing, and there are just a handful of traveler reviews. That being said, the reviews are all glowing, with one recent guest sharing the following about their experience:
"Suraya was tranquil. The landscaping is outstanding and the amenities are wonderful. It is a luxurious home in a gated part of Captiva. The set up is amazing for 4 couples. Plenty of rooms and a wonderful pool/jacuzzi beachside. Ryan was very responsive and catered to our every need. I have a new love for Captiva and this home was well worth it."
