With Gorgeous Waterfalls Just Steps Away, This Campground In Colorado Is Absolutely Unreal
Are you looking for the best campground near Rifle, Colorado? The campground inside Rifle Falls State Park is it. In fact, this is one of the best campgrounds in Colorado, if you ask me! This tiny campground only has 13 drive in sites and 7 walk-in sites and it's very challenging to land a camping reservation there. I've tried and failed several time. But, I've visited this park on numerous occasions and you have to pass right though the campground to get to the park's three famous waterfalls - and it's amazing! Someday, I will succeed. Until then, I'll dare to dream. Read on to learn more about this great park and its awesome campground.
Rifle Falls State Park is our state's smallest state park at just 48 acres in size, but it's a favorite of many. It may be small, but it's mighty! This park has so much to offer, and the campground is great.
This park is beautiful and wooded and is full of trees, flowers, and wildlife.
The most important feature of this park, though, it its incredible waterfalls. These waterfalls are a trio of falls that are 70 feet in height.
They're not only beautiful, but they are easily accessible for people all abilities, too.
The campground is open year-round! You can stay in this park during any season of the year. The falls are beautiful in spring, summer, fall, and winter.
The campsites are spacious and open but they're far apart from one another that you'll be able to enjoy some privacy. The drive-in RV sites include 30 amp electrical outlets.
The park's walk-in tent sites are right on Rifle Creek.
You'll love relaxing by the fire at your site.
You can also expect to see some wildlife during your stay. Mule deer, elk, coyote, birds, and ground squirrels are prevalent here. Three species of bats live in the park's caves and you can see them flying around in the evenings feasting on bugs.
You can fish in the creek for rainbow and brown trout, too.
Best of all, the falls are just a short walk from the campground along this flat and easy path.
You're going to love admiring these waterfalls from afar and even close up during your stay. You can get very close to them with little effort.
If you'd like to be a bit more adventurous, you can walk up the trail next to the falls for a different perspective. It's fairly steep and rocky and it's about a mile in length. You can enjoy impressive views like this one.
The path will take you behind the falls as well. I suggest trying this out! The misty view from behind the falls will make almost make you feel like you're somewhere tropical.
Due to the easy accessibility of these waterfalls, you can enjoy them many times during your overnight stays in the Rifle Falls State Park campground.
You'll get a great night's sleep at this campground every night! You can hear the falls from your site, and they'll lull you into a deep and restful sleep.
Rifle Falls State Park campground is one of the best campgrounds near Rifle, Colorado, and I think that it's one of the best campgrounds in the entire state due to its proximity to these spectacular waterfalls.
