There is no better way to disconnect, recharge, and immerse yourself in nature than on a camping trip. Here in Northern California, we have many beautiful campgrounds waiting to be enjoyed, but Gold Bluffs Beach tends to stand out, particularly if you love the beach. One of the best campgrounds in Northern California, this secluded oasis sits on a large grassy plain right along the beach. It is beautiful, spacious, and open year-round.
Gold Bluffs Beach Campground is located in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park and near the small town of Orick. It is one place where you can feel away from the stresses of the world and surround yourself with both gorgeous redwood bluffs and beach views.
The campground sits right along — you guessed it — the beach. While this beach doesn’t draw tons of tourists, it is still a popular spot for campers. Fortunately, there is plenty of space to spread out if you want some time alone.
There are 24 campsites available for tents and RVs 24 feet or less. However, this campground is designed best for tents as there are no RV hookups.
It is recommended you make reservations for each campsite as this campground can fill up quickly, particularly during the summer months, weekends, and holidays.
No matter where you stay in this campground, you can be assured you’ll have magical views. Several of the campsites face the beach, while others face the bluffs. Be aware that there are few trees and little shade around this campground, so it is easy to see other campsites.
Each campsite has its own fire pit, bear-proof locker, and picnic table. There are also restrooms and solar showers around the Gold Bluffs Beach Campground.
While you can always spend time near the beach or relaxing at your campsite, just a short way up the beach you will find the Fern Canyon Trail, which is an easy 0.75-mile loop trail that takes you through a gorgeous canyon.
If tackling this hiking trail in Northern California, make sure you wear proper footwear as the trail can become quite wet and muddy.
Sleep near some of Mother Nature’s greatest creations at Gold Bluffs Beach Campground in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. It is one of the best campgrounds in Northern California, and you’ll want to revisit it over and over again.
