The Country’s Most Impressive Rest Stop Is Hiding Right Here In South Carolina

The Anderson Northbound Rest Area is located near mile marker 17 past the Georgia-South Carolina border. It's easy to get into and back out of with larger vehicles, including tractor trailers if you're a truck driver.

The restrooms are old but clean and well maintained, which is always so nice to find. In the women's restroom, you'll find a shelf helpful for diaper-changes.

If you'd like to grab a snack while here, there are some vending machines available. Travelers report they aren't always stocked very well.

But this – this right here is what makes this rest stop most impressive and a favorite rest area for many travelers. It's located on Lake Hartwell, which is one of the largest recreational lakes in the southeastern United States.

You may want to plan some extra time during this stop to walk down by the lake and enjoy some sunshine.
