In 1935, Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Dewey tried to hold him accountable for his actions. Like Al Capone, he was put on trial for tax evasion.

According to legend, Dutch Schultz buried a safe in the Catskills to keep his riches safe.

It's believed that the safe contained gold and silver coins.

It also held some jewels.

And, it also contained paper money. It's believed that the contents of the safe would be worth close to $150 million today.

Dutch Schultz was killed in a shootout with other mobsters in New Jersey in 1935. Before he died, he said "Don't let Satan draw you too fast." Some people believe this was a reference to the location of his treasure. There are rock outcroppings near Phoenicia called Devil's Face and Devil's Tombstone.

However, despite the fact that treasure hunters have been looking for it ever since, it's not yet been found.
