Life in Missouri is pretty darn sweet, whether we’ve called this beautiful state home our entire lives or for just a short time. When I arrived in Maryland Heights quite a few years ago, I fell in love and felt right at home, even when I traveled throughout the state. There’s so much to love about Missouri – from the insanely good food to the breathtaking landscapes – but it’s the people who make it such an amazing place. One thing that is very clear is that roots in Missouri run deep. Missourians have got a lot to be proud of, and we can even wear that pride on our sleeve now thanks to the Wear Our Roots brand. 1. We’re all about good food.

We know good food because we’re surrounded by it. Dining out is an experience, whether we’re heading to our favorite local restaurant or we’re trying somewhere new.

2. Meals were meant to start with toasted ravioli.

Can you think of a more delicious way to start your meal? Though, let’s be honest. Toasted ravioli is the perfect snack at any time of the day or the night.

3. Nobody does BBQ better.

We love BBQ and most of us likely have a go-to barbecue joint for when we’re craving burnt ends.

4. Desserts? We do ‘em best.

Gooey butter cake, anyone?

5. Spending time in/on/around the water is in our DNA.

We live for the summer because that means we can spend our free days floating, swimming, or kayaking. There’s just something so calming about spending time in, on, and near the water.

6. Baseball is, too.

Do you bleed Cardinal red? Or are you all about the Royals? Loving baseball just comes naturally in Missouri.

7. We’ve all been to the top of the Arch, and…

We’ve probably traveled to the top more times than we care to count, but it’s the first thing visitors and those new to St. Louis want to do. You’ve got to admit the views from the top are breathtaking.

8. We’ve explored at least a few caves.

Going to the commercial caves is fun, but have you ever run across a cave when you were hiking? Nothing beats that feeling, does it?

9. A little bad weather doesn’t scare us.

We’re resilient. We can handle anything that comes our way, and that includes the mood swings of the weather in Missouri.

10. Missouri will always be home.

No matter how far we travel or how long we’re gone, nothing compares to Missouri. We can return after years and just slip right back into our old lives.
